Moong Rice Khichdi is a nutritious dish popular in India, especially in North India. It is made from moong dal, rice and few spices. which is healthy and very easy to make, it can be taken as a light and comfort food for dinner.
To make moong rice khichdi, start with washing rice and moong dal. Heat oil in a pressure cooker, add cumin, asafoetida and onion. Fry for some time till the onion becomes light pink and transparent.
Add soaked rice and dal, salt, turmeric powder and red chili powder. Mix well and add about three times the amount of water than rice and dal. Cover the pressure cooker and cook for 3 - 4 whistles or until cooked well for about 20-25 minutes. When it is cooked, add some ghee to it and mix it well.
